Book and Movie Reviews

Books and movies are like apples and
oranges.
They are both fruit, but they taste
completely different.

Death Note || Series

Animated series, absolutely genius.

Friends || Series

Well.
Nothing tops this show.
Obviously I've watched it.
More than I'd care to share.
The only thing that I think you NEED to show your kids after a certain age.
This show taught me a lot and shaped many things in the way I see life.

My Mad Fat Diary || Series

This show was so raw and different. Life from the point of view of an obese teenager and her trip to find love with a boy that everybody assumes is way out of her league.
The whole story was so authentic, that I can bet on the fact that you will never truly find something similar to it. Beautiful, I wouldn't watch it again, but I'd recommend it to others.

Veronika Decides to Die || Book

By Paulo Coelho, this book was short and sweet. The story revolves around this woman, Veronika who tries to commit suicide and fails. She ends up in a mental institute so that she can be "cured", but really, they just put her there to die as she only has one week to live. Veronika's character development is astounding and Paulo made sure that the author would feel this progression. However, at some points, the change in her attitude seemed a little too forced for me. Almost like Paulo really wanted you to feel exactly what she was feeling.

The overall story was enlightening. You do gain some perspective at the end of your reading experience, but the experience as a whole is far too predictable. And maybe that's what makes this book all the more special- you know what's going to happen but you're shushing yourself to feel that tingle of surprise.

I wouldn't read it again, but I'd definitely suggest it to someone else.

Desperate Housewives || Series

One of my favorite shows of all time.
The amount of joy I felt when my favorite characters were happy was unsettling. Especially the amount of sadness. I cried, I laughed, I loved, I hated and raged. There is nothing this show didn't make me feel, and for that I am grateful towards the cast, crew and director for making this a show worth my time. I remember it taking me forever to finish it but I loved every second.
The characters, the women in show, are such a fantastic combination- it's almost insane! They gave me a new love for marriage and neighborly friendship, I did not expect to ever have.

I wish I find a show as good as this one because, for me, nothing really tops the making of this show. Everything about it, right down to ever detail- like the narrator at the beginning- is so much fun!
Drama, crime, mystery and romance all tied into a bit of dark comedy. I think sometime in the future, I want to watch this show again because it actually taught me a lot.

My favorite out of the women was Gabby. It gave her an advantage that she was Latino :)

One Tree Hill || Series

I watched this during March or April and it's a really cool show. My only issue was how the show was ended. It didn't wrap it up in anyone... it just ended out of nowhere and I wanted to check if it was discontinued but it said no matter about the topic. I think that's really how the show ended. It was quite annoying because it gave me no mental preparation for the ending whatsoever. The finale wasn't what you would call a normal "finale" it just seemed like another episode.
I'm not sure what the director wanted to get out of it, but after 8 seasons, I was expecting to feel like I was truly losing these people and that the show was really OVER.

Apart from that, it's good drama and romance. It's fun and entertaining, the story line is so engaging and the villain will confuse the hell out of you!

Dollhouse || Series

My God.
This show is probably the most creative one I've watched so far. It's so intense, you never know who to trust and I love the main idea behind it all. Although it truly was one of the best shows I've watched, I believe there was room for even more drama... or maybe that's only because I'm so angry it ended??
Unfortunately the show only lasts for two seasons and each episode is 40 mins long. It is a good amount of time to spend on a show, but I mean, I kind of want more.
I'm not really going to give a really long review on anything I watch/read anymore, simply because I want this to simply be a blog about the things I've watched/read and a little summary on how I felt about it, not a review on the matter. A review goes into more detail and I'm not really digging that too much. But really, watch the show if you're in the mood for something different and a bit tense at times. It's not your typical soap opera drama and it's for sure not a normal idea.
At the end of the show, I felt different. Almost like I took something from it. I love that after I watch something.
